Get thee hence!

"WEIGHT.
get thee hence!"

I'm going to share something extremely personal. and something that would embarrass me, but i know that anyone who does read this, loves me and wouldn't dream of making fun of me. right?? well if you do...just keep it to yourself.

I lost about 20 pounds before i got married. Stress and all that. Well, i kept it off until school got crazy busy. I started with putting 5 on and then we went on a cruise. I put on another 5. I was then diagnosed with Poly-cystic ovarian syndrome which apparently makes you gain weight REAL EASILY and makes losing weight RIDICULOUSLY HARD.

On top of all that, i started staying at school for 13 hours 3-4 times a week so i could get done faster. that means, a whole lot of not eating right and exercise?? yeah, that was a joke. I'd get home at 1030 or 11 PM. It just wasn't happening.

By the time i graduated school...(this is the embarrassing part...) i had not only put on the 10 lbs from before but i had then gained another 25lbs. Yes. that's right. 35 lbs since my wedding a year ago. I am so freaking depressed re-reading that. And i know that that is not going to help me lose weight. See, i want to feel good about my body again...and I'd like to look good in my own skin again. and if we get pregnant by doing that, then all the better!

So. I'm making a resolution today...to eat healthier and to try and work out in some way EVERY. DAY. also, I've decided to not try and lose a certain number by a certain time. with PCOS you can't do that. losing weight is going to be an accomplishment in and of itself. so I'll just say that by Christmas, i want to feel like I'm on my way to being a better me.

i need your help. all the "experts" say its about support. so for anyone out there who reads this, help me by sending me "reminders" or encouraging messages. i know that i can do it!

  1. Totally understand what you are going through. I was in the best shape of my life when I got married and the skinniest I had ever been. Then I tore my ACL and did a lot of sitting on the couch and eating. I have gained 30lbs since I got hurt, and I could feel it. I know you can do it!!! You'll be a skinny minny in no time!! I'll be one of your cheer leaders!

  3. *hugs* I know what PCOS can do to you. :( In the 3 years I was married to Mike I gained like.. 50lbs. I kid you not. I didn't know I had PCOS until Mike and I started trying to have kids a year before we split up. It certainly explained a lot of questions that I had. Part of it was actually the PCOS, part of it was I was slowly (unbeknownest to me)getting depressed and over eating. A lot.

I dunno about you but I also was told that I have low iron as a result of all the joys that PCOS bestows on you. Taking iron pills and vitamins REALLY brought my energy levels back up.

Chin up!! When you're more healthy your body will just be that much more ready to have cute babies!

  7. Hey Andrea I know its been forever sice we have talked or even got together. I know you can relate to time just flying away from you when life gets busy. Im lucky if i get the chance to check my email and facebook once a month.
Im sorry to hear about the PCOS but i know you'll get through it. You always beat everything with a smile on your face. As for the weight thing I think that happens to every married woman after they have said their i-do's. Its like a timer goes off as soon as you say yes and your body decides its time to start going down hill. After almost four years of marriage two kids and a whole pile of stress I have gained 45 pounds. I just started running again (Havent done that since college) and im hoping that By eating smaller portions coupled with the excercise i will be able to get back to where I was when I got married.
You are doing great to start now. Getting in the habit before kids is the best way to go and I wish I had done that. You can do it and it sounds like to have it so much easier with a husband that supports you in anything you try to do. Good luck:)
